Arnold Studio is an architecture and interior design practice led by Simon Arnold in New York City. Our work strives to be broad ranging and includes modern homes and innovative commercial spaces for clients seeking a diverse, engaging, and collaborative design process.
The practice has completed several uniquely crafted residences of varying scales and contexts, a sensory deprivation spa—which was shortlisted for Frame Magazine’s international design award— workplaces, multi-family residential, and the adaptive reuse of a former industrial building for a craft chocolate company.
The studio is a PHIUS Certified Passive House Consultant. Passive House is a holistic approach to designing high performance, energy efficient, and resilient buildings—including new and renovated homes, multifamily apartment, and commercial buildings.
The approach promotes decarbonization of the built environment through the employment of super-insulated, airtight enclosures to create buildings that use up to 60-80 percent less energy than conventional buildings. Net zero, or even net-positive energy consumption is achievable with the adoption of on-site renewable energy systems. As a consequence, the interior environment is temperature and humidity stable, with substantially cleaner air quality—resulting in healthy and comfortable indoor spaces.

Simon has extensive experience leading complex projects of varying scales and types in the US and internationally. He contributes a passion for design leadership, combined with a deep knowledge of construction technologies, project delivery, and sustainable building practices gleaned from a twenty-year career. Simon is a licensed architect in the states of New York and Texas, and is a Certified Passive House Consultant. He is currently part-time faculty at Parsons School of Design.
Prior to founding Arnold Studio in 2016, Simon was Project Director at Leeser Architecture for ten years, leading notable projects including Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York City, a tri-climatic biosphere in Abu Dhabi, and many interiors for companies including Two Trees, Bond Collective, and Genius. Simon has also held design positions with industry-leading firms Diller Scofidio + Renfro and SOM.
